Do you consider the following issues to be the most important aims of local politics as I do?

I envision a city that

• serves the needs of all citizens, maintaining unique and distinctive urban neighbourhoods that provide the necessities of daily life
  
  
• ensures affordable housing for all citizens, particularly the less affluent
  
  
• sets priorities for tram, bus, paths for bikers and pedestrians: means of traffic that are safe, affordable for every one and suitable for the preservation of the environment
  
  
• addresses the conditions of the new poor with the goal of reducing the effect upon lives; prohibits exclusion based on economic status from social and cultural life
  
  
• cares for the welfare and safety of children in cribs, kindergarten and in after school programs
  
  
• preserves and protects citizen rights; encourages and strengthens citizen participation in the political decision making process
  
  
• does not privatize public services, such as transportation, water, power
  
  
• becomes a partner city for peace
